Boston Rodriguez eats, sleeps & drinks radio.
Presenting & driving the machine of a zoo format weekday breakfast show for nearly 6 years, writing & producing documentary packages & series, interviewing world class athletes or recording artists, creating regular & original segments to feature within shows, programming & imaging creation of bumpers/stings/idents, voicing adverts for national broadcast (including BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra), technical & creative production of other presenters programs, or panelling across a multitude of different content shows, this is a standard week in the radio life of Boston Rodriguez.
Boston's start in radio kicked off by being recruited to launch & host the very first non-house music radio show on the UK's powerhouse: House FM in London, at the peak-time slot of 6-8pm Sunday night. fusing a cross-section of music old & new... from boogie, disco, latin, jazz, funk, soul to the latest dance music dub-plates & promos sourced through his day job at the influential Goya Distribution.
From there, he moved to New Zealand, and accidentally fell into radio full-time, initially producing shows broadcast nationally on George FM (part of NZ's leading broadcasting network: Mediaworks), then quickly leading to being offered his own weekday show, and a commission to create a documentary series in whatever format he wanted. Hence was born: The Masterclass. A weekly series delving deep into the lives and creative output of artists, band & producers from across the music spectrum since day-dot.
For the next few years, Boston was producing the on-air Friday drive-show on Auckland's pioneering BASE FM, presenting a show of his own there, obtaining grants from NZ On Air to devise and present a weekly 100% New Zealand Music Show & interview series: (Indiginous Dubs) and presenting the premiere Radio BurgerFuel broadcast, a branded, drive-time radio programme syndicated across BurgerFuel stores worldwide (NZ, Australia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq) amongst other credentials.
After relocating to Australia, he immediately landed a Saturday afternoon show at the community mecca: Bondi Beach Radio, quickly progressing to hosting the weekday breakfast show, Monday to Friday: Bondi Beach Breakfast.
Immediately developing a brand new format, Boston devised & launched many new daily and weekly segments. Including
- MakeOrBreak Monday (100% new release
- Tuesday Takeover (show collaboration with another show from BBR)
- World Music Wednesday (live music and international culture)
- Femme Friday (female only hosted weekly show),
- Potty Culture (comedy & satire around current affairs)
- The Happiest News On The Planet Right Now
- Morning Manifestation (mediation & wellness)
- The Naked Adventures (Adult Entertainment)
- BBB Sports Specials
- Feet-On-The-Street (daily community segment)
- Heat-Of-The-Week (new release soundclash with Record Store)
- Bondi Beach Brunch Show (weekly breakfast show wrap-up) and many more.
Having racked-up-up over 1500 interviews and 750 live-to-air performances in Australia, through his live artist/band showcase 'Local Vocal,' the breakfast show and even the eight live-in-studio or phoner interviews (in 60minutes) on his game show-esque programme 'The Eastside Gig Guide' , Boston also contributed discussion and insight weekly as a panellist on various content driven shows, on topics including: health & well being, comedy, current affairs, travel / food, arts and culture, entrepreneurialism and holistic lifestyle.
Outside the studio, Boston, has DJ's, Mc'd and delivered outside broadcast activations from various major music festivals to annual community events.... including the Electric Gardens Festival (Centennial Park), The Latin American Festival (Bondi Pavilion), Defqon.1 (Sydney International Regatta Centre), Festival Of The Winds (Bondi Beach), Deeper Than House (Civic Underground) and Bankstown Australia Day Pool Party amongst many.
Alongside being contracted as a talent booking agent, having booked artists, bands and DJ's for various internationally renowned and community events and festivals, including those organised and presented by Fairfax / Nine Entertainment, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Sun-Herald, Westpac and Waverley Council, he has also worked as a stage manager at youth, community and corporate events including: City2Surf, Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, Night Noodle Markets Festival (Sydney & Melbourne), HomeGrown Series, The World Bar (Kings X), Broadway Crown and Music On The Streets festival.
