Boston Rodriguez eats, sleeps & drinks radio.
Presenting & driving the machine of a zoo format weekday breakfast show for 6 years, writing & producing documentary packages & series's, interviewing world class athletes or recording artists, creating regular & original segments for within shows, programming & image producing bumpers/stings/idents, voicing adverts for worldwide broadcasting coverage, technical & creative producer of other presenters shows, or panelling across a multitude of different content shows, this is a standard week in the radio life of Boston Rodriguez.
Boston's start in radio kicked off by being recruited to launch & host the very first non-house music radio show on the UK's powerhouse: House FM in London, at the peak-time slot of 6-8pm Sunday night. fusing a cross-section of music old & new... from boogie, disco, latin, jazz, funk, soul to the latest dance music dubplates & promos sourced through his day job at the influential Goya Distribution.
From there, he moved to New Zealand in 2010, and accidentally fell into radio, firstly producing shows broadcast nationally across the airwaves on George FM (part of NZ's leading broadcasting network: Mediaworks), then very quickly leading to him getting his own weekday show, and a commission to create a documentary series in whatever format he wanted. Hence was born: The Masterclass. A weekly series delving deep into the lives and creative output of artists, band & producers from across the music spectrum since day-dot.
As momentum grew, he launched & presented the debut Radio Burger Fuel (created by Red Bull) radio show, syndicated across 27 countries in 5 territories, at the same time as beginning to produce the Friday drive-show on the legendary BASE FM. In short course, this led to him being offered a show of his own, and obtaining a grant from NZOnAir to devise, create and present a weekly 100% New Zealand Music Show & interview series: Indiginous Dubs.
Fast track a couple of years, having voiced adverts for summer jingles for BBCRadio1 & 1Xtra, the world's biggest radio station in the interim, Boston relocated to Australia and immediately landed a Saturday afternoon show at the cultural mecca: Bondi Beach Radio, quickly progressing to a promotion to host the weekday breakfast show, Monday to Friday: Bondi Beach Breakfast. Immediately creating a brand new format, Boston devised & launched many new daily and weekly segments. Including MakeOrBreak Monday (100% new release), Tuesday Takeover (show collaboration with another show from BBR), World Music Wednesday, Potty Culture (comedy & satire around current affairs), The Happiest News On The Planet Right Now, Morning Manifest (mediation & wellness), The Naked Adventures (Adult Entertainment), BBB Sports, Feet-On-The-Street (community section), Heat-Of-The-Week (new release soundclash with Record Store), Femme Friday (female only hosted weekly show), Bondi Beach Brunch Show (weekly breakfast show wrap-up) and many more.
Having racked-up-up over 2000 live-to-air interviews in Austrailia, not only through his daily breakfast show, but also via his live artist/band showcase show Local Vocal, and even the 8 live-in-studio or phoner interviews (in 60minutes) on his gameshow-esque format Eastside Gig Guide Radio Show, Boston also featured weekly as a panellist on various content driven shows. Shows including: Manifesting Destiny (health & well being), The Fence (comedy / current affairs), Wunderlust (travel / food), Street Arts (Art & culture) and One Space (hollistic lifestyle)
Outside the studio, Bostonn has also DJ's, Mc'd and live broadcast activations from a variety of different events and locations... including the Electric Gardens Festival (Centennial Park), The Latin American Festival (Bondi Pavilion), Defqon.1 (Sydney International Regatta Centre), Festival Of The Winds (Bondi Beach), Deeper Than House (Civic Underground) and Bankstown Australia Day Pool Party amongst others.
And by proxy of all the contacts he's made through radio, operated as a booking agent, artist liaison and/or stage manager for various events hosted by Channel9, Sydney Morning Herald, Fairfax, Waverley Council and Canvas Events amongst others.
Events including City2Surf, Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, Night Noodle Markets Festival (Sydney & Melbourne), HomeGrown Series (Bondi Pavilion), Latin American Festival, The World Bar (Kings X), Broadway Crown and Music On The Streets festival.
